good works.

we will probably never overthrow the patriarchy.

we will probably never see the end of misogyny.

we will probably never see the end of modesty culture.

of body policing.

we will probably never see the end of rape culture.

we will probably never see the end of domestic violence.

indeed, we will probably never see the end of racism.

of ableism.

of queer antagonism.

of sexism.

but that doesn’t mean we should stop trying.

we will probably never see the end of family, defined as a group of people who love each other.

we will probably never see the end of candlelight vigils after natural disasters or acts of violence.

we will probably never see the end of people loving one another.

we will probably never see the end of people wanting to help other people.

we will probably never see the end of random acts of kindness.

we will probably never see the end of people creating beautiful things, even in the midst of violence and destruction.

there is much evil in the world. and even if we cannot defeat it, that is no reason to stop trying.

there is much good in the world. and it doesn’t cancel out the evil. but that is no reason to stop…doing good.

FWJ (Friends With Jaundice) have you considered that maybe you’re an overconfident jackass? Might be something to ponder

I agree with you, FWJ, but with that, you have to admit it goes both ways.

And who is to determine who is, and is not bias? You? Me?
We are all bias to some degree, and there is no such thing as a non flawed human being.
That’s why the best we can do is try to listen to the Holy Spirit and strive to make righteous choices.

No, see, since the holy spirit isn’t biased and I listen to the spirit, therefore the things that I do when I’m listening to the spirit are totally unbiased and beyond question. You’ll know when the things I say are influenced by the spirit because I’ll tell you so. Also another guy will also tell you the things I say are unbiased.

Dani, thank you so much for this post! I loved it a lot, and I’ll try to remember the sentiment in those moments that I feel like I’m trying to do the impossible within social activism.
